Detailed itinerary of 5 days Rwanda gorillas

5 days Rwanda gorillasDay 1: Kigali city tour & travel to Nyungwe Forest for primate tour

Enjoy your delicious cup of Rwanda tea or coffee at the hotel and after, pick up in a comfortable 4×4 rental car. Before you start your trip, the guide will brief you and next, you will go for a 2 hours’ Kigali city expedition. Places of interest on Kigali city tour include visiting genocide site, local markets within the city and craft shops. After the city tour in Kigali, set off for 5-6 hours on Nyungwe Forest safaris. En-route area of interest to make a stop visit will be at the Palace of the former Rwanda King.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking & afternoon canopy walk tour

Breakfast early morning and after, drive to Nyungwe offices to be briefed about dos and don’ts for chimpanzee tracking. Later, the experienced park guide leads you on 2-4 hours chimpanzee trek and after you have enjoyed an hour with chimpanzees, get back for lunch at the lodge. A chimp trek in Nyungwe Forest also allows you see many other species of primates.

Have lunch and later, you will be part of the unique experience on canopy walk the first of its kind in East Africa. This offers the excellent aerial view of the park’s lush forest canopy, primates, birds and a lot more.

Day 3: Volcanoes National Park safari; en-route visit to Twin Lakes

Enjoy your breakfast early morning and after, leave Nyungwe Forest for Volcanoes National Park safari. As you drive, don’t miss the view of the Lake Kivu, rolling hills, plantations. Lunch be had en-route and check in at the gorilla lodge around Volcanoes National Park Rwanda. Later, go have brief visit to the Twin Lakes of Ruhondo and Burera.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking safari & Iby’Iwacu cultural village walk

Briefing be done at Kinigi after you have had breakfast. Before you leave the lodge for briefing, inform the waiters/waitresses to have your lunch packed and also don’t forget to carry some drinking water. You only track one of the 13 habituated gorilla groups in Rwanda Volcanoes National Park. The length of a gorilla trek adventure takes at least 2-6 hours and it is inclusive of one hour with mountain gorillas. You will go enjoy a cultural experience at the Gorilla Guardians Village also called Iby’Iwacu cultural village, enjoy the local residents’ dances, music performances.

Day 5: Golden monkey tracking tour & drive back to Kigali

Take your cup of tea or coffee and after, briefing on golden monkey tracking rules at 7:00am. The guide from Volcanoes National Park Rwanda will accompany you on a trek to see golden monkeys starting at 8:00am. Golden monkeys are a few most interesting creatures existing only in Uganda, Rwanda and DRC. Your trek to see these striking creatures can take you 2-4 hours and you will have an hour face to face with them then you get back to check out of the lodge. Drive back to Kigali, 2-3 hours and upon early arrival, depart if your flight is meant to be today.
