This 3 days Murchison falls and wildlife safari will give a lifetime opportunity to see the vast number of species and features that Murchison Falls National Park has within its boundaries. This park is situated in the northwest part of Uganda in Masindi district and doubles to be the largest and oldest national park found within the country with a size of 3893 square kilometers. This is a typical African safari as you will be able to discover a lot in the 3 nights and 2 days that you will spend in the park.
Once you choose this safari, look forward to seeing the big five game animals i.e., lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants and rhinos that you will be able to see while on your way to the park. Other species you can look forward to include birds (over 451) species, hyenas, giraffes, monkeys, antelopes among others.
It is one of the best places in Uganda perfect for a game drive which leads you to several species that can be seen in the open savannah grassland feeding. While here you will also enjoy a boat cruise along the Nile River which does give you an opportunity to see other wildlife species in the waters like the crocodiles, aquatic birds, hippos and more.
Murchison falls National Park does get its name from the great waterfalls – Murchison falls that are formed as a result of River Nile forcing its way through a narrow 8m gorge that in the end divides the park into two sections that is: the southern bank and the northern bank.

Detailed Itinerary for the 3 days Murchison falls and wildlife safari
Day 1: Travel to Murchison falls National Park and Rhino tracking at Ziwa rhino sanctuary
Right after breakfast, our English-speaking driver/guide will pick you up from your hotel of residence and embark on a journey to Uganda’s largest and so far, the best national park. Before departing to the park, the driver/guide will so much information about this safari and here you are allowed to ask each and every question so that you’re well versed with the place you are to visit. From here, you will be led on a 6hr trip to the park.
Along the way, that is through the districts of Luwero, you will be able to see the beautiful scenic views, different trading centers with so many fruits, roasted meat that will be brought to you for purchasing by local vendors that is you stop. From here our next stop will be at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary that’s actually close to Murchison falls National Park for rhino tracking.
Ziwa Rhino sanctuary situated in Nakasongola district is the only place in Uganda where you will be able to see rhinos and was established purposely to protect these endangered species that were once on the road to extinction due to poaching. You will be briefed by a ranger on the guidelines to follow before going into the wild in search of these species. The trek here is brief as it takes 30 minutes to an hour to see these species and this usually depends on the location of these species.
After seeing both white and black rhinos, you will be driven by our driver/guide to where you will have a stop over for lunch at Court view hotel. Proceed right after lunch to Murchison Falls National Park and check in to your hotel where you will have dinner and rest.

Day 2: Game drive, Boat cruise and a hike to the top of the falls
Wake up early and prepare yourself for a fun packed day with so much to look forward to. Right after breakfast, our guide will pick you up from your hotel for a morning game drive. You will be taken through several trails where you will be able to spot a number of wildlife species as they graze in the open savanna. Look forward to seeing the mammals like giraffes, warthogs, antelopes, Jacksons Harte beast, big number of buffaloes and 4 of the big five game animals having enjoyed and seen the Rhinos prior to this activity. Once the game drive is done, you will be led back to hotel for lunch and relax for a few minutes.
Right after lunch, you will be led to the Victoria Nile for a mega boat cruise. Here you will be able to get close and listen to the roaring Murchison falls, see several bird species like (the colored kingfisher, shoebill stock, bee eater and many others), hippos, crocodiles as well as other species that can be seen on the banks of the Nile. A boat cruise usually takes 1 to 2hrs and is always concluded with a hike to the top of the falls where you will be able to see the mist and rainbow that usually seen in pictures is formed. Seeing how the falls are formed is breathtaking and a once in a lifetime opportunity that everyone deserves to experience.
After this activity, our driver/guide will pick you and drive you back to your lodge for dinner and resting.

Day 3: Early morning game drive and transfer to Kampala
Wake up early in the morning, take your breakfast and head to a different sector of the park for your second game drive which marks the end of your 3 days Murchison falls and wildlife safari. Our guide/driver will lead you back to your lodge for lunch and then later pick up your belongings, check out and then travel to Kampala. Upon reaching Kampala, you will be driven to a hotel or direct to Entebbe International airport.
